Assignment 1
Week 1: During the first week, we didn’t start our assignments for either module yet as we are still new to the subjects. Instead, Dr. Alshaima briefed us on the schedule for the upcoming weeks and the specific assignments required for this semester. We also spent time watching videos and conducting research on our industry project regarding adaptive fashion. During this session, the lecturer explained the essential design details and functional elements typically used in adaptive clothing. In our Pattern Making class, we began learning CLO 3D. Since it was our first time using the software, we spent the session adapting to the interface while the lecturer guided us through the various tools. Due the first week was relatively relaxed, we will begin working on Assignment 1 for both modules next week.
Week 2 (Innovative Pattern Drafting Project): This week pattern making class, we start learning on how to use the tools for the 2d side of clo3d. For that 2d side, we normally use it to create patterns. It was fun as Adobe Illustrator, since I learnt how to draw the line during Adobe Illustrator, hence, it became easier for me to use during clo3d. Moreover, we also learnt to explore different kinds of characters or fabrics we wanted for our model.
Other than that, we also had a lecture session with industry guest. They are from UTC where they also specialized in Ai platforms. The overall lecture session was to let us know about how Fashion Technogoly will being used in industry nowadays, such as it can create fashion runways through ai platforms or allow the models to wear the garments that we designed.
Week 2 (Innovative Industry Project): Our class went to Paralympic Center this week for field trip purpose, since we need to interview those paralympians and ask them what kind of issues they facing due to the garments that they are wearing currently during training and competition.
We did site visit around the center, and we also saw how hardworking are the paralympians during training even though they are disabled person.
During the interview section, the athletes also shared their opinions to us about the garments issues they having, mostly the shirt are fine but the bottom, most of the sports athletes are having the same issues which is related to the pants, hence for us students, this will be the thing that we need to figure more on to improve so that they can wear comfortable when training and have competition.
This overall field trip was fun since get to see a lot of professional equipment in the center. Unfortunately, during the day we visit, the fencing training room was empty, so unable to watch real life fencing game, but then I was interested in their training and competition garments, since it’s completely different to other sports, as well as the details of the garments which is the thing I would like to look forward to.
