Week 3- DST63504 Introduction to Pattern Drafting & Garment Making

LESSON OF THE WEEK

During this week of lecture, tutorial, and practical class, we will continue doing our first assignments. Our tutor had guided us on the size 12 basic sleeve block, skirt block, and trousers block. As we had our first experience drawing basic bodice blocks on mahjong paper during last week, it became much easier for us this week and we have made faster progress compared to last week.
Moreover, he also taught us to highlight the important lines that will be traced on the cardboard by using a marker pen; hence, it will be easier for us to identify which line is needed and which line doesn't.

MISSION OF THE WEEK

As the class ended when we did our trousers block halfway, we will be continuing doing it at home.
Moreover, as week 4 doesn't have class for this module, our tutor advises us to complete all blocks on the cardboard during the week.

Furthermore, me and my mother went to fabric sourcing in different fabric shops in Kuantan, which is my hometown. We went to lots of shops, but sadly, they didn't sell the calico fabric that is needed for the week 5 tutorial class. Hence, we went to the largest fabric shop in Kuantan, which is Gio Mall. Luckily, they sell calico fabric there. Hence, after completed fabric sourcing, I have the thoughts of purchasing fabrics in that shop again in the future, as there are more choices of fabric compared to other fabric shops.
This is a short video of Gio Mall.
Overall experience of this week was quite emotion stable for me, as we have one week break next week as our tutor will be absent; hence, I have more time to complete my assignment. Moreover, I personally am gaining more interest in drawing blocks, as it doesn't require any technical skills for this section but only measuring it.
