Week 14- DST60604 Introduction To Fashion Design
LESSON OF THE WEEK
This week is a holiday week, so there are no classes for this module.
MISSION OF THE WEEK
The task for this week is to continue working on the fabric board for our final assignment. Here is the outcome of my fabric board:
During the process of creating this fabric board, although it was relatively straightforward since most of my board involves using an overlock machine to sew the bandages and fabric, I encountered a challenging issue. My overlock machine started malfunctioning, and since my parents were not at home, I had to fix it myself. I made multiple attempts to sew after fixing it, but sometimes the thread wouldn’t come out, or it would get stuck in the machine. Fortunately, I eventually resolved the issue by resetting the machine, which allowed me to overlock my bandages smoothly without further problems.
Moreover, since the bandage textiles are made with many small holes, it will be difficult for me to hand-sew the numbers. Therefore, I decided to use embroidered number patches, which I will iron onto the fabric board and then topstitch to ensure they are securely attached.
Overall, my experience this week has been exciting, especially as I prepare for next week’s presentation. It will be our final week, where I’ll present my project to the lecturers and tutors, and it will also be my first time presenting a project on my own. Additionally, there was a part of the fabric board process that I truly enjoyed which is to let my parents and friends write notes on the bandages. This was a heartwarming moment for me, as it allowed them to be involved in my final project, and I’m grateful for their support.
