Week 9- DST63504 Introduction to Pattern Drafting & Garment Making

LESSON OF THE WEEK

This week is the submission day for our assignment 1 and pencil skirt. Hence, before our tutor starts the class, he mentions our name one by one, in order to submit and hang our assignments.

Our tutor started the class by guiding us on how to do pattern-making for the bodice and sleeve. As we did the pattern construction for the skirt a few weeks ago. Hence, it is easier for me to do the bodice one, as I know the process for this step. Moreover, he also taught us how to draw the collar part, which is one of the most complicated parts, as we didn't try to do the collar before; hence, the construction process will be a bit tough for us.

Lastly, Mr. Brian showed us an example of all pieces of construction paper for our homework this week before he ended the class, so that we are able to catch up on the progress and start stitching next week.

MISSION OF THE WEEK

This week, we are required to complete all of the construction paper for the collar, sleeve, and bodice in order to prepare for our next week class.

Last but not least, I cut the fabric by attaching all of the final pattern making above the calico, as our tutor instructed us to cut it at home so that we could catch up on our progress during the next class.

Overall experience of the week is that I feel stressed while doing the task of the week, as it is difficult compared to the skirt version. Hence, even though the construction step and pattern-making step sound easy, I guess if we draw it wrongly or measure it wrongly, it may affect our final outcome for the garment.
