Week 9- DST60604 Introduction To Fashion Design

LESSON OF THE WEEK

This week, Mr. Daniel started the class by teaching us how to create a technical drawing. He showed us examples of our seniors' work and pictures from Pinterest for inspiration. As some students were still unclear about how to draw technical drawings, he hand-drew examples during the class to demonstrate. However, since my previous technical drawing was too detailed with patches and accessories, I made some changes to simplify it and avoid making it overly complicated.

He also taught us to use different mm size of Artline to draw the technical drawing, so that the overall look will be nicer and neater.
  • 1.0mm-shadow
  • 0.5mm-outline
  • 0.05mm- stitches

Before the class ended, Mr. Daniel gave us a brief overview of our next task. We need to start drawing models posing while wearing our designed tops. Since we were unsure about how to approach this task or determine the size of the drawings, he projected some of his previous artwork to give us clear guidance. The most important note for this task is that the model posing artwork must show the details of our designed tops.

MISSION OF THE WEEK

Our main task this week is to start working on the model posing artwork so that Mr. Daniel can review and suggest improvements during the next class.

Additionally, during this week's consultation session, Mr. Daniel recommended that I purchase a thinner fabric called tetoron cotton fabric, as it will be easier to sew. Therefore, I need to buy this fabric within the week to use it in the next class.

Overall experience of the week is that I feel relaxed this week, as there weren't too many tasks assigned for this module. Moreover, I also learned that our technical drawings don’t need to include accessories or patches at this stage, as it would make them unnecessarily complicated.
