Week 1- DST63504 Introduction to Pattern Drafting & Garment Making

LESSON OF THE WEEK

For the first week of the class, we only have lecture class, as we don't have any materials to start for the assignments during tutorial and practical classes. Hence, during the lecture class, Mr. Brian, our lecturer, started to brief our assignments and also tell us about the materials that are needed for this module. 

Moreover, he also taught us how to use the sewing machine in Mayamode. This is the first time for me to learn how to set up the sewing machine. Hence, the process of setting up the machine is quite complicated for me; it might take lots of times for me to set up as a beginner.

MISSION OF THE WEEK

Well, for this week, our task is to buy all of the materials that were briefed by our lecture. My parents brought me to Spotlight, as the place is quite near compared to other fabric shops. My mom did help me to choose which is the best brand, as she has the basic knowledge base of sewing.

Sadly, not every item is available in Spotlight; hence, I have no choice but to purchase the remaining materials from Shopee. Luckily, everything arrived early, which allows me to bring all of the materials to the next tutorial class.

Moreover, I also went to Vision Art to buy manila card and craft paper.

Overall, I enjoyed exploring different sewing materials this week. As a result, I learnt how to identify various types of materials and which brand is best. I'm looking forward to this semester because this is my first time taking this module.
