Week 1 LESSON OF THE WEEK This week marked the beginning of the semester and our very first class for this module. Since it was also our first time having class with Dr. Alshaimaa, she began with a short self-introduction and asked us to introduce ourselves as well, so she could remember our names. After this small ice-breaking session, she introduced the overall module and explained the assignments we will be working on throughout the semester. Because the software we will be using is licensed, all assignments and weekly progress tasks can only be completed in class using the university’s facilities. MISSION OF THE WEEK As this was only the first week, there were no assignments yet. Instead, we completed the Week 1 weekly task during class. Week 1 LESSON OF THE WEEK Part 1:  Mr. Daniel started the class by briefing us about this module and the assignments we will be working on this semester. This semester, we are collaborating with Converse . We will be receiving thrift Converse shoes, which must first be cleaned properly since hygiene is very important. After that, we will deconstruct the shoes and transform them into our designed fashion looks. However, not everyone will get the chance to showcase their designs at the fashion show, only those selected by the lecturers and Converse will be chosen. Mr. Daniel also emphasized several times that he does not want us to use shiny fabrics, such as satin, for this project. Instead, we will be sewing with thrifted clothes or pants, as the project emphasizes sustainability . Therefore, we are encouraged to hunt for suitable fabrics at thrift shops. Week 01 (): LESSON OF THE WEEK As this was the first week of the semester, Mr. Daniel began the class by introducing himself, since some students were attending his class for the first time. This also acted as an ice-breaking session so that the class atmosphere would not feel too serious. Part 1: He briefed us about the module and explained the assignments we will have throughout the semester. We listened carefully because we had to begin our first assignment this week by deciding on our subject matter and starting the proposal as soon as possible. He showed us examples of seniors’ work to guide us on what to include in our proposal slides. He also mentioned that we will be going on a field trip between Week 5 and Week 7 to visit a large sustainable fashion industry. This trip will help us gain inspiration and learn more about sustainable fashion, especially since it is our first time working on a fashion project related to sustainability. Week 1 (Task 01 - Experimentation On Media - Hatching Pen): LESSON OF THE WEEK To start the class this week, Mr. Jasmi briefed us on the assignment flow for this module. He also recommended the types of materials we need to purchase for upcoming assignments, such as colour pencils for Assignment 2 and marker pens for Assignment 3. This allows us to buy them early online and be better prepared. Next, to help us avoid procrastination, Mr. Jasmi demonstrated how to use Artline pens for hatching in drawings. He taught us how to create different tones using a 0.2 Artline pen by layering the lines. After the demonstration, we all began doing trial-and-error exercises. MISSION OF THE WEEK This week, we were tasked with completing a trial-and-error version of Assignment 1 using a chosen editorial photograph.
